SWITZERLAND:
  • Its capital is in Bern and its financial capital Zurich rich in literature, art, architecture, and music (alphorn concert- vals)
  • Famous for chocolates (18th-century chocolates made - but gained a reputation in 19 the century) also famous for watches 
major cities - Interlaken, Geneva, Bern, Lucerne, Zermatt ( town)



MATTERHORN:
  • Is a mountain of the Alps, straddling the main watershed and border between Swizterland and Italy it is a large near-symmetric pyramidal peak in the extended  Mont Rose area of the Pennine Alps, whose summit is 4,478 meters (14,692 ft) high making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe
  • the deadliest peak in alps more people have died since the 18th  century, the Alps have attracted more and more people and fascinated a generation of explores and climbers as of 2015 almost2 million visitors arrive at Zermatt annually. an average of around 12 people per year died on Matterhorn in the ten years from 2005 to 2015



JUNGFRAUJOCH:
  • the highest mountain station called Bernese alps 
  • sphinx observatory  is the highest astronomical sighting 
  • UNESCO site - Aletsch glacier ( largest ice field in Apls - shrinking by 5 pts or more /year)
  • highest railways in Europe 
  • Jungfraujoch also called " Top of Europe " since  it is the highest train station in Europe 
3454 meters above sea level ( Apprx. 11,332 feet)


CHILLON CASTLE:
  • On the  shores of the lake, geneva is Chillon castle 
  • combination of history, art, and culture
  • Artworks from the 14th century  are displaced has dominated the lake since the 13th century 
  • 25 separate buildings- circular walls, courtyard and, dungeons 
And used for a guided tour, exhibitions, workshops, activities, and fairy tale weddings


LAKE GENEVA:
  • Situated between Switzerland (60%) and France (40%) if viewed from above, crescent moon shape 
  • jet d'eau- giant water fountain this is where lake Geneva empties into Rhone river 140 meters (460 ft) in air
  • 7 tons of water- 2 or 3 times in a year, water is colored with pink or blue color - humanitarian reasons
